David Beard, editor of Endless Summer Quarterly magazine, compiles a wide range of his conversations and original interviews with the Beach Boys and integral figures in the band’s history. Most were originally published in the magazine, with some from additional sources as well.
Conversations and interviews include Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks, Bruce Johnston, Jan Berry, Dean Torrence, Marilyn Wilson-Rutherford, Ginger Blake, and many others.
All Summer Long is based on more than 30 years of archival interview content and provides a wealth of fresh insights into the personalities, circumstances, and decisions that shaped the music created by one of the most enduring acts in popular music history.
Through his many interviews with Dean Torrence (and to a lesser extent Jan Berry), David has made a particular effort to include Jan & Dean’s story, the duo’s influence on the Beach Boys, and their relationship over the years.
A crucial addition to scholarship on the West Coast Sound and Southern California music history.
