I’m listening to it. Played Surf City and Baby Talk. Then went to Oh What a Night by Frankie Valli. It’s just a typical station that plays music from the era and mixes in songs from the artist. Sidewalk Surfin playing now. All original recordings which is good 👍

I just finished the book. Once again, you out did yourself Mark. Fantastic book from cover to cover! One minor error: Appendix C has the movie Blast from the Past playing Dean’s Surf City.
Actually the version was the original from’63.
Thank you for your hard work! It was worth it. I hope it becomes a movie 🎥

On Jan and Dean Spotify there’s a song called No Slack. It’s a terrible rap song credited to Jan and Dean. It’s not them of course. Weird

Yep maybe Mark would know about Time and Space. I know it wasn’t a Jan Berry production. I’m not sure Liberty would have any rights to it.

I hate to admit this but I like the cover. It had a sunshine pop feel when that was popular

I don’t think Liberty could use Time and Space. But maybe previous songs not on albums like Freeway Flyer and Someday. I think Popsicle was the same as the original version

Well I wasn’t there. Maybe Dean wrote a word or 2. Roger too. But Roger was soooo upset his name was left off of Surf City that he immediately collaborated with Jan on Honolulu Lulu. Think about that

I just read Hollywood Eden. I endorse it because it gives Jan Berry the credit he deserves as a great producer and as a pioneer of the West Coast sound. The Jan and Dean Record was used as a reference. However. The author relies heavily on recollection of artists which results in a lot of BS as well. Like the whole thing about who else wrote Surf City. And the whole “Jan was an ass” thing. But overall I enjoyed it. It got me fired up for Mark’s new book which I can’t wait to get!!!

There’s a claim on Facebook that Dean remixed Fiddle Around for the single release. Is there any information on this? The guy claiming this has said other things that I don’t think are correct. But I don’t know about Fiddle Around
