DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Re: The 1977 Re-recordings.

Jdman I dont think it really matters. If people become interested in Jan and Dean from whatevet recording, theyll work it out if they decide they want to hear more. Besides now theres budget cds with the originals.

Lets face it people Deans tireless efforts back then put Jan and Dean back on the map and saved us from buying Duran Duran and Culture Club records.

There might be Cd versiond floating around. I'll keep you posted if I come up with anything.

sounds like all three to me, Beachboys County Fair, some of  the drumming sounds like a Jan Berry Production, vocal arrangement  Gary Usher.

JDman that's exactly right who gives a toss if Dean was in the Barons  or not.  However what is concerning about topics like this is when it's brought forward its like some huge revelation has been made that is really gonna change Deans standing or contributions to the duo. Its an ongoing thing and there appears to be a concerted effort to undermine Dean Torrence. So called fans agreeing with lines like "it could of been Jan and anyone", "Dean couldn't stand being around Jan" and there are numerous other cheap shots. Just like you all I'm interested in are the recordings some of the background to the recordings is of interest but this continual undermining of Deans role is ridiculous and it hurts Jan and Deans legacy alot more than a Ktel album. I know some of the fans find the McParland book as the be all and end all for Jan and Dean but personally I think it falls short but at the moment that's all there really is. These continual cheap shorts on Deans character have become extremely boring and unwarranted.
So all we can do is wait for Marks book and hopefully there will be an extensive section on the origins of Jan, Arnie and Dean.
Just for the record Deans on the Kjan radio show he can be heard clowning around whilst tracking a record.

When people who attended the high school state that Dean was a member of The Barons including Dean there is no other option but to take the information as accurate and correct. The first person and documentary evidence suggests Dean was a member of the Barons. This whole saga was started by Don Altfeld who was always envious of Dean and his partnership with Jan.
I rest my case.

The McParland book states Dean was in a club called the Galatians. Can't remember where I saw or read the interview but I think Don Altfeld mentioned that Dean was in a club named the Sirs. The vocal band at the high school was named the Barons and Dean was a part of that.  Who knows he may have joined The Barons official club at a later date after joining the vocal group.  Its high school people swap and change all the time depending on what you're into at the time,  sport,  music etc.
I think Don Altfeld was in The Barons yet he's not in the club photo.
