People Sundazed have done it again, they've stuffed up another Jan & Dean classic, The Jan And Dean Sound Lp released 1996 on Sundazed.
Until recently I had one copy of this Lp that being a pirate copy manufactured in France, 1978. The album is an exact duplicate no mention of it being made in France, minus the picture insert. I can't confirm this but it's definitely not the 1960 original. The sound is excellent high fidelity the echo nice and crisp the way it should be.
In the last couple of days I came across a mint sealed copy of this Lp, Sundazed issue. Great packaging but the sound quality was flat no fidelity lacked the echo that these songs are known for. I played the pirate copy straight after and noticed the difference immediately. I can't understand how a pirate copy made in 78 can sound a great deal better than a release from a company who claims to pride itself on its sound quality.
People don't buy anything Jan and Dean related from Sundazed, they've got no idea about the Jan and Dean sound and what's expected.
I've recently ordered a Cd on Amazon that covers all the Dore recordings and the reviews in regards to sound quality are excellent.

And don't forget to get a copy of The Bamboo Trading Company, new ep released on the fourth of July featuring Dean.

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Dean Torrence Lp Cover Design
« on: July 07, 2014, 01:20:28 AM »
Found this vinyl a double lp.  Its not listed on Deans album covers on his website.
Released in 75 on csp label,  columbia special products.  Jan and Dean on back cover and inner sleeve covers.  No Jan and Dean songs on record.  Photo in record store all the kids are holding Surf City Lp by Surf Riders or Lively Ones.
$6 a giveaway.

I read an old post, Silver Summer, in regards to re recorded J & D material only to be more confused than I already was about these re recordings. The last entry on the post even confused things further when mention of a bluegrass version of Jennie Lee featuring Jan was made. What is the difference between the J & D Story recordings, that is the 10 songs, the soundtrack LP released in Australia and the Dean Torrence Music Phase Two Lp released on JVC Japan. Are all the tracks on the legendary masked surfers cd just the silver summer lp. Where does the  bluegrass version of Jennie lee come in I don't think I've ever heard it . Is Jan on any of these and which were used in the movie, to confuse things further I read a post on a blog stating Bruce Davidson and Richard Hatch sang Barbara Ann in the movie. Is there a full version of little lady lover

1) Time Machine (1960) J & D backing vocals for Dante and the Evergreens
2) Alley Oop (1960) Jan may have played the coke bottle on this for Dante and the Evergreen
3) Perfidia. Jan backing vocals for Matadors (1962)
4) Off to See The Wizard. Dean backing vocals for Emerald City Bandits

7) Other Town Other Girls aka Vagabond - Dean Torrence backing Vocals - (1964)
    Gary Zekley Single.
8) When I Go To Sleep - Dean Torrence Backing Vocal (1964) Gary Zekley single.

Anyone know of any others please let me know or correct any of the above.

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Frosty The Snowman
« on: January 02, 2014, 11:18:29 PM »
Hi people,

Frosty the Snowman. I checked this out on wikipedia the other day, that is the song itself. It gave a list of covers and chart positions. Showed Jan and Deans single version as reaching number 11 on Billboard. Is this accurate. Most of the time it shows up as DNT did not chart.
