FILM & TELEVISION / "Surf City" TV performance
« on: October 03, 2022, 03:48:11 AM »
Unfortunately I don't know from which show this is (maybe American Bandstand?). Seems to be 1964, I'd guess.

Just came across this. They do a short part of TLOLFP:

Unfortunately recorded from a screen but still nice to look at:

ALBUMS / Re: 1966 Jan & Dean Meet Batman

While listening to the original Batman & Robin snippets, I wondered who wrote these? Did Jan and his guys create these stories or were they based on Batman comis already released?

This album absolutely needs a deluxe release. The original mono version plus a new stereo mix, and the Batman & Robin parts (see above) added as a bonus.
Mark, do we now what else is left in the archives regarding this album?

Murray The K. at the Brooklyn Fox

J&D perform "Linda" (it seems this is sung to the studio recording)

This is one of my favorite J&D songs. I believe it was released as the b-side to Jan's solo "The universal coward" single. Imo this song has a-side potential on it's own and may have been a better follow-up to "I found a girl".

One user says in the comments:

This video from where the action is, and they were really singing Surf City......

Probably not the right song being synched to the video.

Interesting! So it's this release:

Unfortunately that gives us no more info about the recording or if there is more.

There is also a release with a recording from Phase II:

Thanks! I wonder what these conversations were like. Did they talk about Jan's health and the accident, did they talk about new music projects...
