Description: The opening track of Janís ambitious orchestral project from 1965. Here the classic í60s hit is re-imagined as a sophisticated Viennese Waltz.

Studio Recording Arrangement (25 parts): WOODWINDS: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet 1 (Clarinet & Flute); Clarinet 2 (Clarinet & Bass Clarinet); BRASS: French Horn 1-2, Trumpet 1-2, Trombone; STRINGS: Harp, Violin 1-8, Viola 1-2, Cello 1-2, Contrabass; RHYTHM: Guitar, Danelectro 6-String Bass Guitar, Drums, Percussion (Triangle, Piatti, Concert Bass Drum) ó The original recording was made with 28 Wrecking Crew musicians, plus Jan as session leader.

My all time favorite Jan & Dean song!!  To me it was Jan at his best and the song is so optimistic and free flowing.

I feel somewhat validated by this.  I listened to Jan & Dean in the 70's also but felt like an oddball for doing so. I was 16 when I saw Jan & Dean for the first time in 1980 at Disney World. The big act that night was KC & The Sunshine Band in front of the castle.

Author Mark A. Moore is currently working with Voyage Media to produce a documentary film on the life of Jan Berry and Jan & Dean, based on his award-winning book, Dead Man's Curve: The Rock 'n' Roll Life of Jan Berry (McFarland 2021).
