DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Jan's Condition after the accident
« on: August 11, 2022, 09:15:54 PM »
Hello peoples,

I just listened to the Steve Barri thing on xm radio. I did enjoy the content. He covered some good topics, Of course he mentioned Jan & Dean but no plays during the hour. Here's my question to you hardcore fans. And i admit i ponder a lot while i'm driving and such.. I HONESTLY believe LOU ADLER was responsible for what went on after the accident. Sure if a hit came out of Jan's recovery that would be a Grand Slam so to speak but in reality of the situation He (LOU) believed Jan in the studio at this time was PURELY THERAPUTIC. Like a big brother watching his younger now handicapped brother try and get back on the horse. In his heart he knew the act was over. I love Jan & Dean. I'm not trying to cut short that some people didnt believe Jan had something left but I do believe everything went through LOU. They had absolutely NO( WARNER BROTHERS ) label push whatsoever. It kept Jan somewhat busy and kept him reaching for the stars. What do you guys think??? AS the world as we know crumbles be kind to each other. God bless. Burton

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Jan & Dean Archives Volume 1 and 2 on amazon
« on: February 18, 2014, 07:47:48 PM »
I just got these books for my birthday. They are on amazon for 18.89 a piece. Check them out. Not sure who did them but its a nice addition to my J&D collection. Its photo copies from fanzines over the years from b4 and after the accident. The 66 tour book that you see on jans corvette from the accident is in it as well. It's always nice to have something new to look at concerning J&D. Nice shiny covers in color. I also just picked up a copy of the Rolling Stone Paul Morantz article. Anyway check them out if you can. B

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / rare Jan & dean on Amazon Mp3 only

Was wondering if anybody else purchased "The Barons aka(rare) Jan & Dean Vol. 1 & 2 off of amazon. not bad for 8.99 each. They seem like the oddities album and the legendary masked surfer albums from the late 70's and or 80's. I like it, any versions of this stuff is kinda cool just to have in mp3 format. They only messed up once and put "only a boy" on twice on the one instead of "blowin my mind" . Still different mixes to my ears and something to listen too on my kindle and laptop.

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / american pickers

On monday's episode the guys were picking out in california. At around 29 minutes into the show they place a call to get proper prices for surfboards there about to buy from a collector. In the backgound on a shelf is a copy of Jan & Dean's SURF CITY and other swingin cities album. In my opinion, its the best show yet. Not because of the J&D album, just really interesting. Those guys have a really cool job :) Thought you guys and girls would like this tidbit. Have a good one. b

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / random thoughts

Hey ppl.

I was on youtube lastnight before work and searched Jan & Dean just to see what was available. Well i listened to "little old lady" several versions. One was the orginal album cut, then maybe the surf to drag remix, and last but not least the Deano remake from the 70's. The remake should come with a warning  'what you are about to hear is a bad remake". My opinion yes. Im not attacking dean, just his remake. Listen to the original, with the opening bar. It's pure genius. it can turn a frown upside down, it's special and powerful. I thought about it all night. Just wish the remake's never happened. If your wondering i had a good night at work too. Those damn remake's make me nauseous.  Just talkin out loud. What do you guys think?
