DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Command Performance Lp
« on: July 16, 2016, 12:02:00 AM »
How much of this LP is live. Lead vocals sound to clear to be live.
Anyone know the video clip from a TV show with the host promoting the LP. Lloyd Thaxton show?

Lol that looks really sus. It's either a really bad attempt at forging their autographs or the guys were tired from signing all day.

Yeah you got a point there in regards to reducing the value. But do you have any intentions of selling the item. More than likely it'll stay in your collection. Picked up a sealed mono original of Folk n Roll from the local record store a couple of months ago, opened it and played it, no big deal.Collecting can go overboard, next step bubble wrapping everything that's rare. The return ain't worth it, play it and listen while you still can.

I'd play it. You'll be the first to give it a spin.
I think they were referred to as aura vision disc, pre picture disc vinyl.

Just tried it. I think it might be another dud link to the episode. Tried two different cards ....didn't work. Wishful thinking on my part.
This and the Redigo episode I have yet to see.
Until next time.

Great image/sketch in colour of Jan and Dean. Popular in the seventies various editions...the cover with Dylan/Morrison definitely has the Jan and Dean image.
Some other good ones and not so good ones. Other than the J & D one the John Sebastian image is quite good.
The J and D image is worth framing,

Something about a profile silhouette in the sand?.
.
There's another version of this with bats, I think this was going to be used for the cover of the rerecordings in 78/79.

The Tom and Jerry records have the Dore Jan and Dean sound. They're  some of my favourites I have two Lps with their early recordings. As for S&G I recall reading the liner notes for the Bridge Over... Album the J & D reference as I recall was made to this album. I don't have the box set, friend of mine, looks like a book with all there folk/folk rock lps/CDs.
Note Chesterfield Kings aren't a surf band...they just recorded a one off double album in the surf genre, Surfing Rampage.
The Andrew Loog Oldman liner notes come from another Lp of theirs, Psychedelic Sunrise, nothing to do with surf music.
