Title: Hoping for Some Help
Post by: jjoharanyc on February 28, 2011, 12:16:15 PM
Hey Guys...
My name is Jeff, and I've been in contact with many of you over the years (Mary, Mark, June, etc.) thanks to our dedication to and admiration for Jan and Dean.

Recently, after three decades of collecting EVERYTHING under the sun from our favorite boys of LA, I suffered a series of setbacks (home robbery while on the road with my own band, and an apartment fire) that completely wiped out my Jan & Dean collection. Everything from all of the original vinyl releases (yes, stereo AND mono), CD's, VHS, DVD's, framed Billboard ads, autographs...even a FULL CONCERT (July, 1991) recorded by myself for a proposed TV segment that never aired and a 20-minute interview...captured on 2 cameras with PRISTINE soundboard audio.

I managed to scrape up a few of the One-Way reissues, maybe 5 or 6 "Collector Series" discs, and two copies of the audio from the show I recorded...but little else from J&D.

I am hoping upon hope that by way of the people on this board I can work on re-instating my collection to it's previous glory! I am not looking for handouts...just perhaps some help in locating some of the harder-to-find things that I may never see again.

In addition to paying for whatever items those of you in the "circle" can share, I would be happy to offer a copy of the show audio I recorded in 1991 as a tremendous "thank you". I've tried to get interest in an official release of this material (even talked to Dean about it on more than occaision), as it is a fantastic snapshot of J&D's re-emergence, and historically relevant, but as time wears on, I would rather see it in the hands of true fans, who would appreciate the most.

I can be contacted anytime via e-mail at jjoharanyc@gmail.com, or by phone at 281-650-0132. I look forward to hearing from anyone that can help, and to re-connecting with some old friends from the "J&D Digest" and other forums/pages I've had the pleasure of talking to over the years.

Thanks again in advance...

Hey Jeff,

Sorry to hear about your collection.

Try e-Bay for the original vinyl. Also, I would check with Frank Kisko to see what kind of duplicates he has. He's a great guy, and you might be able to buy from him or trade.

You can get an original copy of "Save For A Rainy Day" from Dean. Also the tour book designed by Dean in the '60s. Gertie has that, as well.

Jeff - very sorry to hear that. It really is a nightmare. There is a lot of stuff listed on the Music Stack website:

Best of luck finding things again

And Mark - are there really still copies of the tour book available. I'd kill for one of those - well, not literally :P
