« on: April 03, 2016, 08:16:41 PM »
Jim Armstrong wrote a cute message of their show they did today or recently -- Dean was there and they all must have remembered Jan especially on his birthday. That'd have been nice to be at.  So excited about Dean's scheduled release in September of his account !!   :D  Now that can be preordered on Amazon

*standing in a lobby next to Jan and Dean as they talked then headed up an elevator together (only having met Jan at autograph table so far) 1995, January

*sitting by a coffee table having Dean sign oodles of records of mine and friends they gave me for them, in lobby before he leaves for concert

*running into Dean in hallway of hotel at night as he's getting items for Jan

*spending afternoon with Jan, my daughter, fellow fan (and friend) Shawn, before concert, outside, behind stage, just sharing thoughts, looking at Sunshine Musics with Jan

These from 1995

Not that i was a big fan, but today on my iPod, i saw Amy Grant did "Turn, Turn, Turn" saying and crediting it as Pete Seeger's song in tribute to i didn't even realize/remember that...

However, of course, i did know and love Jan & Dean's version..."Folk 'n Roll" 1965

Mike Douglas had the privilege in October 1978 (34 years ago) to reintroduce Jan & Dean to the public via television explaining their LONG absence:

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / common thread
« on: September 01, 2012, 09:12:02 PM »
...Jan &'d think we'd have much more common  huh?

yet with all that ever gets discussed on here..........i feel isolated in it usually.

But with the movie being a huge part (in my opinion) of why this even exists...(this board).... i believe there are others out there that come from the position i do

Yet, maybe i am incorrect.  Maybe this board stems from something much different.  The person running it i figure does.  But the people that may visit probably could come from either side of the spectrum.

Jan & Dean....primarily "the singing due"......OR primarily...."the very special story...biography"  WHICH includes the fact that they are a super music force from the late 50's and the 60's

At any rate....i just find it interesting.  All the talk about how they are tied in with THE Beach Boys and Brian / Bruce Johnston ....yet PREcede them...AND the recent chatter regarding Carole....a very vital voice from these musicians....yet a voice, among others, that can be overshadowed by study of HER history and that of her peers...what's more interesting?  ..."facts" or voices that share their perspective while living the facts out?  We choose when we listen.

For myself....i thank God for the moments......spent with Jan.  ...and even with Dean....and with Jan AND Dean....that let me glimpse echoes from that movie that so conveyed their story.....and took me to the library to find that record Dean put together in 1971 to bring to our generation their wonderful story and music...their HISTORY.....

Their story....i still very important....and isn't quite written long as Dean still is here.

But it's pretty cooooool
