DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Marvelous Wonderettes
« on: June 08, 2022, 01:58:31 PM »
My wife and I went to see the Marvelous Wonderettes at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival theatre. Before the play, music from 1958 was playing and Jennie Lee by Jan and Arnie was blasting loudly. I said. Hey thatís Jan! My wife told me to pipe down lol

Thereís a lot of footage we havenít seen. Jan and Arnie has several. Iím pretty sure there is a Heart and Soul appearance thatís not available.

That would be nice. But the release that Iím hoping for is the live Hullabaloo concert. I know we have portions of it in Filet of Soul. But Iíd love a new album release of that entire Jan and Dean set!

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Website is fantastic!

I just want to say that this website is awesome! Full of great information, pictures and interviews. At home I read the books. But when Iím at work or on the road, this site answers all my questions. Thank you Mark for all the work you put into this!

Iím not so sure how much ďFeel FlowsĒ did for The Beach Boys. I donít think thereís a lot of excitement around them anymore. Burton. You make a good point. People are moving past all that stuff. A movie featuring LOLFP would be great. There are other songs too. Even though Brianís name is on some of them. I think Dead Manís Curve would still get respect from a production stand point. Itís funny. The video I posted with Brian getting interviewed in 1964. He says he wrote all of Jan and Deans recent hits. Which was disappointing. But when he was listing the Beach Boy hits. She said LOLFP. He said thatís Jan and Dean. And she completely ignored that and mentioned it 2 more times. Almost like LOLFP was the only song she knew and he didnít write that one. Lol. He was getting aggravated.
Markís recent books will help set the record straight. A lot of people may not care anymore. But I do. Iím continuously getting amazed at Janís productions. Arrangements. And compositions. Even if most of the world doesnít care about it. I always will

This is an interview with Brian in 1964 from a clueless interviewer. Fast forward to about 2 minutes in. Unfortunately. Brian says heís written several Jan and Dean songs from Surf City on up. But itís still a cute interview and I donít think Brian was purposely trying to take full credit. It was a rushed interview

Yep. It always has been. Since the 70s.

Iím not against SFARD. I said I liked it. Itís just weird with all the hits available. Thatís all

On Spotify. Pocket full of Rainbows by Dean is on the Top 5 for Jan and Dean. How is that? Donít get me wrong. I like Deans album. But with Drag City. Honolulu Lulu. Baby Talk. Etc. available. It doesnít make sense

Iím listening to it. Played Surf City and Baby Talk. Then went to Oh What a Night by Frankie Valli. Itís just a typical station that plays music from the era and mixes in songs from the artist. Sidewalk Surfin playing now. All original recordings which is good 👍

I just finished the book. Once again, you out did yourself Mark. Fantastic book from cover to cover! One minor error: Appendix C has the movie Blast from the Past playing Deanís Surf City.
Actually the version was the original fromí63.
Thank you for your hard work! It was worth it. I hope it becomes a movie 🎥

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Spotify hack?

On Jan and Dean Spotify thereís a song called No Slack. Itís a terrible rap song credited to Jan and Dean. Itís not them of course. Weird

It looks like August 2. From Amazon.

Yep maybe Mark would know about Time and Space. I know it wasnít a Jan Berry production. Iím not sure Liberty would have any rights to it.

I hate to admit this but I like the cover. It had a sunshine pop feel when that was popular

I donít think Liberty could use Time and Space. But maybe previous songs not on albums like Freeway Flyer and Someday. I think Popsicle was the same as the original version
