It looks as though the book launch has been delayed. Amazon UK were saying end of March - now July.

My copy ordered. Can't wait.

Hi Mark

Fantastic promo. The narrator sounds English.

Some great visuals and sounds. Brilliant work,

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Phil Spector

Death of Phil Spector - troubled genius. I know that Brian Wilson much admired him and he shared many of Jan's session musicians. I just wondered if Jan and Spector ever met or worked together.

Happy Christmas from the UK.

Here's hoping for a better 2021 including Mark's latest book.

Keep safe. Keep well. Burn up that quarter mile...

Spread the word.

I see that the publisher  McFarland have a cover picture and are taking pre-orders. Can't wait.

Really interesting. I will deliberately repeat a point I have made before about the limited videos / photos of the time. Nowadays rock / media stars (including Z listers) photograph everything.
Will your new biography be illustrated Mark?

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Dean touring
« on: September 06, 2020, 04:01:14 AM »
Hi Everyone
Here in the UK, Covid has ripped into live performances but looking at Dean's website and hid Facebook page, well prior to the pandemic he seems to have stopped performing. I don't ever remember seeing an official announcement.

Any ideas?

This is a great title. Dead Man's Curve has so many symbolic / metaphorical connotations as well as being ne of Jan's greatest songs / productions / arrangements.

Can't wait.

These are fascinating. I remember when I was first listening to Dead Man's Curve here in the UK and trying to work out the lyrics I was mystified. The street names were literally foreign to me. Bit by bit I found out the trust words. I bought a couple of Japanese albums that were beautiful but completely mistranslated the lyrics. The maps are excellent. They bring the lyrics to life as well as giving a different insight into Jan's life.

There's a good video on You Tube

Also a video of Pan's People (the UK dance group that performed on Top of the Pops most famously) dancing to Bucket T.

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Lockdown City

Hi Everyone

Everything has been very quiet during lockdown. I have been reading the Keith Moon biography - Dear Boy by Tony Fletcher.

Keith Moon was a really big surf music fan and had a record player fitted in his chauffeur driven car and blasted Jan and Dean - especially Dead Man's Curve.

He was a very idiosyncratic drummer but I think you can hear the influence of Hal Blaine (as on Jan and Dean).

Mark writes about Moon in his book.

Is there a story behind this? I went to Andy Lindquist's Facebook page but nothing there that I could see...

A great video. The usual curse of misinformation. Jan's accident took away his ability to tell his own history so others played around with it - often to their own advantage. It is why Mark's book is so important.
