DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Jeannete Get Your Hair Done lyric question.
« on: April 08, 2018, 09:01:01 PM »
have a few lyrics i am not sure on would love your help! Thanks I may have messed up other lyrics that don't have ? by them

Oh you come to school in the slop of your dress
Your sweater is sagging and your hair is a mess
It's hanging in your face so you can't even see
Now when you come like that don't you ever talk to me

Oh Jeannette get your hair done
Why don't you ever get your hair done
Well if you want to please me can you ?????????
And get your hair done now

Oh I told you once and I told you twice
When you're around me you got to dress really nice
Well wear your crazy black shoes just for play
But don't wear it to school 'cause there's no track meet today

Oh Jeannette get your hair done
Why don't you ever get that hair done
Well I don't think it's fair that you don't fix your hair
So get your hair done now

Well I was going to ask you to a dance the other night
But I got to thinking that I want to do it right
Get it done up in a bun or a pony tail
And if you do it right it ???????????????

Oh Jeannette get your hair done
Why don't you ever get your hair done
Well you're a really cute girl so give it a whirl (Yeah)
And get your hair done now

I'm a gonna cut your hair off chick

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Re: Filet of Soul

Mark, I remember a discussion here several years ago in which you suggested that Dean was interested in an official release for Filet of Soul - in approximately the form that it was originally presented to Liberty.

Do you know if this is still the case, and if any progress has been made with this? I for one would very much like to see Sundazed or someone release this because (as I said several years ago) I think it is a) funnay and b) ahead of its time. Its goofy surreal / stoned humour before Firesign Theatre even existed :)

I think the interest is still there. Maybe the release of Dean's book will help generate some momentum for it.

I Would love to see this get an official release! Along with anything else not released by Jan & Dean!!!

Man i would love to hear the version of Honolulu Lulu and Memphis! Jan & Dean needs to come out with a rarities album like the Beach Boys do! Keep the fans interested and wanting more!!!

Have you ever heard of Mr Custer before though? I have never heard of Mike & Dean covering it. I don't think it was ever released?

Have anyone heard of this version of Mr Custer covered by Mike & Dean? Its very good and interesting! What do you guys think? Do you have any information on this cover? sounds like it maybe from the Rock n Roll City time frame.

They did make a couple of remix and one was released as a single in the UK and was popular at night clubs. (UK single)

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Surf City has beat of Custom Machine
« on: January 28, 2016, 01:47:42 PM »
I never noticed this until today but The Beach Boys custom machine ends the same way as Surf City Does! Is Dean singing in the ending? Have any of you guys ever notice that before??? CHECK IT OUT!

Thats a good idea! Dean would still do good on lead their. he could of done theat in  66 as a single. I would love to see a album made that hasnt been released that could make a complete album. not just parts of songs but full song with leads and everything!

This is Jan & Dean's backing track of Do You Believe in Magic originally done by The Lovin' Spoonful in 1965. Jan Berry produced this track the same year. It is rumored that a finished track with vocals exists. If anyone has this version I would LOVE to hear it!

Nice songs but the vocal is kind of annoying, don't know how to describe it but there's a bit of an irritating slur. Stopped listening to the Beach Boys ages ago. Still listen to some of the really early ones and some later Lps,Surfs Up and Light Album, on the rare occasion.
Until next time

I have to agree although I think Brian has a great voice for his age. But I have never been a fan of the newer projects of the Beach Boys or Dean. I'm just really into the original stuff. I have very little interest in 60-70 year old singers trying to come back. Although Brian did some good stuff in the early 2000's. Also, Johnny Cash surprisingly had some good recordings at the end of his life. But for the most part, I very seldom buy their new stuff and this album will be no exception. I didn't download the last Beach Boy album either. It just didn't appeal to me.

i also think Glen Campbell has some great stuff in his later years! I dont think he ever toke a break from music! And his last single got best country song of the year!!!

wo when and how can we get started?

I would love to see that! Nothing even close have been done like that. I think thats a great itea and would like to help to contribute as much as i could!
