CALENDAR / Jan & Dean's single "Surf City" was released June 15, 1963

The song "Surf City" was written by Jan Berry and Brian Wilson. The first draft of the song, with the title "Goody Connie Won't You Come Back Home" was written by Brian Wilson (The Beach Boys). He gave it to Jan Berry and Dean Torrence (Jan & Dean) who finished the recording it with Brian Wilson. Although, Dean Torrence contributed several phrases to the song, he never insisted that he be given a credit. The single was released on June 15, 1963, and it was a #1 hit record in July 1963 for two weeks.

'Save for rainy days' is a great album.  Never came to my mind about the gay stuff.  My thoughts were that when Dean came up with the album,  he was sad about Jan's accident and the songs about rain meant something  like tears.

This is really a great article and some awesome pictures.  I believe that Jan and Dean shared an apartment with other guys during their college years.

Hello!  Yes, I am new to Jan & Dean.  I run a fan site for Dennis Wilson (Dennis Carl Wilson the Real Beach Boy); however, I have posted many posts on Jan & Dean's face book.   Does anyone knows who is the admin for that site?  - Thank you very much!
