DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Re: Apple Music lossless
« on: April 07, 2023, 06:10:37 PM »
Right now I’m paying Spotify but maybe I can check out a sample from Apple.
Something interesting that I noticed on Spotify and Apple. The original Jennie Lee is under Jan and Dean. If you look at Jan and Arnie. You can only get the other songs like Gas Money etc. that’s a lie. If I were Arnie. Id sue. But I digress lol

Good stuff Surferbee. I was a child in the 70s and discovered Jan and Dean from the movie. I bought Anthology and then a bunch more. It seems like Anthology should have charted. A lot of people bought that one. I knew several people that had it before I met them. Anyway. Thanks for sharing

Absolutely, Tom Hanks probably remembered Jan and Dean a little from his childhood. So it makes sense that he would buy Anthology and Gotta Take that One Last Ride amongst others during his high school days.

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Leader of the Pack
« on: August 15, 2022, 06:16:47 AM »
I hope someone can answer this. But this board has not been very active lol

I think I read somewhere that Leader of the Pack was influenced by Dead Man’s Curve.  When I listen to Leader, I hear Jan’s bass riffs. Car squeaking sounds. Singer talking. Etc. so it seems obvious that there was an influence. Can anyone confirm this?

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Route 66

I’m not sure if you guys are into theatre but there’s an off broadway musical called Route 66. It includes 3 Jan Berry compositions. Little Old Lady. Dead Man’s Curve. And Move Out Little Mustang. Pretty cool. You can listen to samples at StageRights.com.

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Marvelous Wonderettes
« on: June 08, 2022, 01:58:31 PM »
My wife and I went to see the Marvelous Wonderettes at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival theatre. Before the play, music from 1958 was playing and Jennie Lee by Jan and Arnie was blasting loudly. I said. Hey that’s Jan! My wife told me to pipe down lol

There’s a lot of footage we haven’t seen. Jan and Arnie has several. I’m pretty sure there is a Heart and Soul appearance that’s not available.

That would be nice. But the release that I’m hoping for is the live Hullabaloo concert. I know we have portions of it in Filet of Soul. But I’d love a new album release of that entire Jan and Dean set!

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Website is fantastic!

I just want to say that this website is awesome! Full of great information, pictures and interviews. At home I read the books. But when I’m at work or on the road, this site answers all my questions. Thank you Mark for all the work you put into this!

I’m not so sure how much “Feel Flows” did for The Beach Boys. I don’t think there’s a lot of excitement around them anymore. Burton. You make a good point. People are moving past all that stuff. A movie featuring LOLFP would be great. There are other songs too. Even though Brian’s name is on some of them. I think Dead Man’s Curve would still get respect from a production stand point. It’s funny. The video I posted with Brian getting interviewed in 1964. He says he wrote all of Jan and Deans recent hits. Which was disappointing. But when he was listing the Beach Boy hits. She said LOLFP. He said that’s Jan and Dean. And she completely ignored that and mentioned it 2 more times. Almost like LOLFP was the only song she knew and he didn’t write that one. Lol. He was getting aggravated.
Mark’s recent books will help set the record straight. A lot of people may not care anymore. But I do. I’m continuously getting amazed at Jan’s productions. Arrangements. And compositions. Even if most of the world doesn’t care about it. I always will

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Brian Wilson
« on: March 17, 2022, 03:52:35 AM »
This is an interview with Brian in 1964 from a clueless interviewer. Fast forward to about 2 minutes in. Unfortunately. Brian says he’s written several Jan and Dean songs from Surf City on up. But it’s still a cute interview and I don’t think Brian was purposely trying to take full credit. It was a rushed interview

I’m not against SFARD. I said I liked it. It’s just weird with all the hits available. That’s all
