This is soooooo exciting!! The song 'Taste of Rain' was written by Dean Torrence, but he used his mother's name on the label. I am just curious why didn't he used his own name

Wally unfortunately if a comprehensive biography is to be written about Jan and Dean both parties are going to cop negatives and positives. If that doesnt happen the final product would be a watered down account and in turn lack integrity.
If accuracy is what we are after then negatives are bound to surface for both Jan and Dean and the involved people around them.
In terms of fans undermining Dean I do agree with you. I think this may have been the reason Dean shut down the discussion board on his site. I read that bogus comment, "it could have been Jan and anyone" on several posts. Yep like you said it got boring.
As for the Kjan sessions, Yeah Deans on it but I think all the Dj work alternates between Jan and Don Altfeld. I dont think I hear Arnie although he is mentioned by Don.
In the end whatever craps put on Dean hes always gonna come out on top because hes always going to be one half of Jan and Dean.

When people who attended the high school state that Dean was a member of The Barons including Dean there is no other option but to take the information as accurate and correct. The first person and documentary evidence suggests Dean was a member of the Barons. This whole saga was started by Don Altfeld who was always envious of Dean and his partnership with Jan.

And without him, an act like Jan & Dean would not have happened, e.g. "Jan & Phil" (Sloan) wouldn't have worked because, apart from the great production work done by Jan, it was Dean who brought the other element on all those albums - the humour, and that's what made Jan & Dean different. Stuff like "Schlock Rod", "Submarine Races" or even their version of "Hang on Sloopy" are unique and priceless and made the difference to all the other artists. Brian did great songs too, but their albums were missing the punch and kick that Jan & Dean had
