JAN & DEAN > CARNIVAL OF SOUND
"Hawaii" Chords
Shane:
I've always loved this song, and finally got myself a copy of the very rare 45 last week. I took some time to figure out the chords, and I thought I'd share it with any fellow musicians out there. The amount of key changes in this song is absolutely crazy/brilliant, and the middle section that sounds more minor than major is an absolute highlight. I see that Jill Gibson shares a writing credit with Jan... considering the rather unusual musical structure of "It's As Easy As 123", I see a common thread here. Love it!

Nice!
NateRuvin:
Do you think you could figure out the chords for "Blowin My Mind"?
Shane:
Lemme see what I can do. My brain hears a lot of "sus4" chords in there.
Shane:
Okay, here it is. If you check out the "alternate backing track" version, track 29 on the CD, you'll hear there are actually two guitars and a bass guitar that play rather independently of one another. I've tried to incorporate elements of all three into these chords. It makes things a little complicated on the guitar, but more of the music is there.
