That's quite a collection. Something tells me PORT TO PARADISE deserved more exposure. GOLDEN HITS VOL 2 sums up J&D's classic period as well as any single LP could. GOTTA TAKE THAT ONE LAST RIDE seems the J&D equivalent of ENDLESS SUMMER: a mid 70s comp with a more creative title than "Best of Vol 4".

Did you buy PORT TO PARADISE at one of the concerts?

Yes. I bought it in New Orleans at the Superdome. Jan had CDs on a table. I told him I had all of them. He said I bet you don't have this one. Of course he was right. He signed it for me. Cool guy!!

Good assessment Moon Dawg. It's good to have you back. This board has been silent for awhile.
To be honest, lately I've been listening to the original LPs. You should get some of them. The Greatest hits stuff is good, but check out Drag City, DMC, Little Old Lady, and the rest of them. Those were some great albums and album cuts. With better promotion, I have no doubt Jan & Dean would have had several gold albums.

Thanks, I always return to the music of Jan & Dean from time to time. Things have been quiet here, but that's not always a bad thing. The SMILEY SMILE message board can get tense at times.

Yes, it seems DRAG CITY, DEAD MAN'S CURVE, and THE LITTLE OLD LADY FROM PASADENA are all first rate Jan & Dean albums. Ditto CARNIVAL OF SOUND and SAVE FOR A RAINY DAY. I need to check out FOLK & ROLL.

I've loved listening to Jan & Dean's music for half of my life (I'm 30), and am now really enjoying all the aspects of their songs (J&D together and separate).

My collection:

LPs: Surf City and Other Swingin' Cities, Dead Man's Curve/The New Girl in School, Folk & Roll, Filet of Soul, and The Little Old Lady From Pasadena. I found these at antique shops for $2 a piece.  ;D

CDs: All The Hits From Surf City To Drag City, Port To Paradise, One Summer Dream (CD/DVD set).
