Looking forward to this one. The end of summer/beginning of fall will see autobiographies by a trio of Surf Rock legends: Dean Torrence, Mike Love, and Brian Wilson.

That is not Dean's book … Not sure what it is, but I can promise it is not Dean's book.

I thought it was as well, and erroneously reported that this was Dean's book.  Apologies to anyone who got the news from ESQ.

At present, Dean is still working on his book.

On another subject, Dean and I just completed The Beach Boys 2016 Official Tour program together.  Dean supplied the cover art, as well as the airbrushed lyrics to the Beach Boys' song "Good Vibrations" … I did the rest (40 pages).  Even though this program is being sold at Mike & Bruce shows, the content represents all members of The Beach Boys.

Is this the book you mean that is not Dean's book, David?

If it isn't written by Dean .... thanks for the info.  BUT ...how can someone on Amazon say it is written by Dean Torrence ....AND it is NOT?!!

There is only one book listed on Amazon.  It is not Dean's book.

I have no idea how that book can say that.  Someone is clearly taking liberties.

The Perseus Books Group listing features a better front cover:

This all seems very odd. Is this Jan and Dean's story but with a focus on Dean? The cover is ambiguous. It suggests BY Dean T but could be about him - if so no author is credited. Very strange. Blurb too doesn't quite give it away,

The picture used is one that I have never seen before.  It is a different angle I believe of the commonly published picture. Kind of a mystery.

Surf City

The Jan and Dean Story

By Dean Torrence
Description

The Jan and Dean Story is a personal story of the iconic musician and entrepreneur Dean Torrence. As a memoir The Jan and Dean Story has elements of humor, tragedy and redemption. It tells their story from the early high school friendship struck up between Jan Berry and Dean Torrence and their ascent to the dizzying heights of stardom riding the crest of the “surf” craze. The Jan and Dean Story is as much about the culture of the 1960s as it is about music. Dean has lived an incredible life and continues to promote a lifestyle and surf culture that is now universally admired and followed throughout the world.
The story also recounts Jan’s tragic car accident and his ability to recover enough to continue to perform will be inspiring to many readers even those not familiar with surf music. For pop culture addicts and music buffs alike this book is indispensable. As early teen icons, Jan and Dean left an indelible mark on the music of the 60’s and the American psyche.
Dean Torrence is still touring and creating music and often appears with the Beach Boys and other groups from the heyday of surf music.

Not sure how this fits in with David Beard's comments. Amazon UK have a new cover picture a la Surf City - Take Linda Surfing album shots.

The blurb now calls it a 'memoir' - that seems clear: Dean's memoirs.

It's the same listing that's been on Amazon since the book was first listed. It looks like the publisher initially made its listing (on several sites) with a dummy cover and then updated it.

Nothing on Dean's website. For me this adds to the mystery!
