That's a very subjective list. Half of them didn't come close to having the hits Jan & Dean had.I prefer this list of the 50s and 60s. Jan and Dean are number 3!!

That list is a few years old and recently re-surfaced...if it's any consolation, even Hall & Oates failed to make it

Whats also shocking is there not in the hall of fame,and Jan not given credit in the music business as one of the top producers, lets not forget Jan taught Brian wilson and gave brian tips around the studio,and Dean a great Album designer,and there's artist out there with a 1/4 of the talent and there in Rolling stone,hall of fame,

It was Jan who said to Brian get studio musicians in,and he did for pet sounds,

1jay1 pretty much everything after he heard them play on Sufin and Surfin Safari for J&D's cover and Surf City . BB's version sounds unpolished compared to the Wrecking Crew. Jan was also a better arranger than Brian . Just compare CAWave to SWSurfin.

  Gosh, I could not agree more re RS and Jann Wenner. I dearly wish somebody like Greil Marcus (who considers J&D's work 1963-65 to be pivotal) would take up the cause as this is a travesty.

 I don't agree that Jan Berry was up to Brian Wilson at the end of the day, but few are.

Yes. By the time you get to Pet Sounds and Good Vibrations. Brian certainly made his mark. But Jan was ahead for awhile. Even Brian Wilson historian Dom Priore admitted Jan Berry was ahead of Brian until 65 as an arranger and producer

I don't think you can compare Jan with Brian or Phil S or even John and Paul . Due to him being a full time Student and they were full time Writers. Having 24/7 to concentrate on Music is a big advantage to doing it in the wee hours of the morning , after studying all day.
