I received this record in the mail today.  It has a different sound than the released record and the version is slightly different.  It actually sounds better!  Definitely Dean singing.  I guess this would be classified as an early studio cut?  I still do not know who the record company is.  I am unable to find anything out about Zip Records on Google.

This was a private pressing and one of the earliest Jan & Dean boots. A bargain at $6.

Is a private pressing like a studio copy or acetate studio copy? What is the story on what took place in the studio in the mid 1960's when a record was recorded for production?

It seems to me I once had a copy of this. I'm thinking it would be late 70's and it was the first time I had heard the J&D version of Yellow Balloon, so I wouldn't have noticed any difference. I can't even remember where/how I acquired it. Wow..the memory banks are fading!
