Haven't been back to Hal's website for a while http://www.halblaine.com

But well worth a visit. In the discography section you can look at different years with a lot of Jan and Dean tracks with Hal's notes. A few oddities - with notes against the wrong song - but well worth a read. As always, Hal is very complimentary about Jan's production and arrangement.

One example:

EVERYBODYS SOMEBODYS FOOL: (I've not heard of this track and am not sure if it is an error or a joke [Mark will know] ) but Hal notes: AIN'T IT THE TRUTH !! SOME OF US WERE REAL FOOLS!! ME AND EARL PALMER PLAYING DUAL IDENTICAL DRUM PARTS PLAYED THE %#$^ OUT OF JANS ARRANGEMENTS. JAN WAS ANOTHER BRIAN WILSON, HE KNEW WHAT HE WANTED AND HOW TO GET THERE.. GREAT FUN. SOMETIMES ALL NIGHT, SOMETIMES JUST A COUPLE OF HOURS, ALL AT WESTERN STUDIO 3 IN HOLLYWOOD, THE HITS STUDIO WHERE SO MANY NAME ARTISTS RECORDED WITH CHUCK BRITZ ON THE CONSOLE..

This site is a good example why you can't depend on people's memory. That site is full of mistakes. But he does say nice things about the boys, esp Jan

Does anyone know if Hal is still playing at concerts or recording at studios?
