Thanks, Ban & Bean!  I'll have to start looking for these CDs--I was impressed by the sound quality of the C5 Dead Man's Curve/New Girl in School re-isssue; sounds like the other ones are just as good.

I have the C5 re-issue of Drag City . . . excellent sound quality.

The Ride the Wild Surf and Little Old Lady albums were re-issued as a two-fer by EMI back in '92. These featured stereo re-mixes by Ron Furmanek and Kevin Reeves . . . with liner notes by pop maven Dawn Eden.

Thanks, Mark! I'll bet the EMI two-fer is the one that my friend taped for me back in the '90s.  I used to have the Greatest Hits cassette that came out in '90 which had all their single hits from A Sunday Kind of Love to Batman--I'm going to hunt down a CD of it, too.  I believe Ron Furmanek/Kevin Reeves also did the stereo re-mixes on that one?

I'll definitely try to pick up the rest of the C5 albums; our music stores here only carried the one I mentioned, so I never knew the others were out there.

Hi!
Mark, what you think about the Beat Goes On two-fers?
What's the better two-fers to buy?
I'm looking for One Way's two fers, because all cds have bonus tracks.
Thanks!
Cheers
Alan

Here's the link at BGO for the CDs : http://www.bgo-records.com/list_artist_divs.asp?selectartist=249&Submit.x=90&Submit.y=13&Submit=submit

If the samples at Amazon are accurate to the CD's real content then:

1) Ride The Wild Surf album is mono
2) Folk n' Roll utilizes a wider stereo mix than the One Way and the channels are switched
3) Surf City seems to be the normal stereo mix
4) Dead Man Curve... seems to be the normal stereo mix

I haven't heard these BGO CDs (other than the Amazon samples).

Hi Ban!
The BGO CDs have bonus tracks or only One Way cds?
You know about some of the bonus tracks? Singles, unreleased songs, etc...?
Thanks!
Alan

Hi everyone

I'm still looking for a One Way version of Little Old lady/Filet Of Soul  and Take Linda Surfin/Ride The Wild Surf.
I was hoping not to have to break the bank to get them.. a vendor tied to Amazon.com has a copy of TLS/RTWS  for only $12, but will not ship to Canada. :-[
needs to be the One Way versions for the right grouping of lps..

So if anyone sees these two cd's in the $20 range (new or used) please remember me.

thanks

Hello,

Just acquired the BGO Ride The Wild Surf/Folk 'n Roll.  Nice outer sleeve, decent notes (no full reproductions of the covers :( )  The stereo mastering of Folk n' Roll on the BGO is much better than One Way (my opinion).  The stereo mix is wide, has nice dynamic range and some sparkle the One Way was missing.

Nice to have the mono mix of "Ride The Wild Surf" LP.  Who knows if these mono LP mixes will be released again.

It's the original LP stereo mix: instruments far left (with a few exceptions), vocals far right.  Again, the BGO sounds much better than the One Way mastering, in my view.

Has anyone heard the Australian Raven label release, "As Easy As 1, 2, 3,..." which includes all the songs from "Popsicle", "Little Old Lady From Pasadena" and "Drag City"? I am wondering how the sound is, as well as which mixes were used.
Thanks for any info!
