I love when Dinah told Jan she thinks it's incredible how he's done and that she thinks he's fabulous...then everyone claps for him...including Dean...so very cool.

Never saw it, 'cause I'm from Germany. Is there a version available with Jan's original singing? Doesn't sound like him imo, although I never heard him that late in his life.

Well....that certainly does not sound like Jan singing....at all!...but he IS talking in the part on "Deadman's Curve" I'd say....and at the end when Dean says thanks for coming...God bless you...and all...then you can hear Jan say, "Thank you very much" too!  Such a coooooool event... Fred Vail was there!....and who is the man in the dark suit who comes by Jan during Surfin USA?...and then Dean puts his arm on his shoulder?

That is Fabian . I too say that doesnt sound like Jan.  I say it sounds like Gary Griffen trying to sound like Jan . OR  they had a bad mix or whatever on Jan.  He sounded better than that about a year before in KC.
Something else that comes to mind Jan was a very good looking young man as was Dean. Dean aged I think very well.  In my opinion Jan did not . I wonder how Jan would've looked if not for the accident , or if that had anything to do with it. I dont know enough about my MAC or PC's to do a age increase but I know they got "software" to do it . It would be neat to see Jan aged from a pre-accident photo. Any takers.

Yeah, Jan was on medication that contributed to weight gain. Plus, he didn't live the healthiest lifestyle, especially given his limited mobility.

Do you mean he didn't at this time in his life or ever since the accident ? I know about his cocaine-use but what else did he do?

I think, btw, that Jan sounded very, very good in the late 70s and his cocaine-use in the 80s seemed to have done much more damage to his speaking-capability than one would think. imo
