NEW BIOGRAPHY — DEAD MAN'S CURVE: THE ROCK 'N' ROLL LIFE OF JAN BERRY, by MARK A. MOORE (McFarland & Co., 2021)
I'd love to get a 2 CD Jan & Dean set that covers 1958-68. 3 CDs would be ideal, but a 2 CD set is more commercially viable. The whole story from "Jennie Lee" through CARNIVAL OF SOUND, although a truly comprehensive set would demand some post 60s tracks, including "Don't You Just Know It", "How How I Love Her" and "Ocean Park Angel." Inclusion of "Gas Money" also a must.
I think the entire 6 song Jan & Arnie career should be included. Also, a lot from early Jan & Dean. Those were very important songs to the development of California pop. They may have been top 100 nationally but they were top 10 in LA. Of Course, some were bigger nationally. The 60's stuff is a must. The 70's? I'd be satisfied with just a couple of songs. Maybe Sing Sang a Song and Fun City.
Oh yeah, I'd add Blowin My Mind, Easy as 123, Restless Surfer, Surfer's Dream, Surfin Safari, When Its Over, Horace, One Piece Topless Bathing Suit
