One way or another, J&D are due for a new compilation. They should enlist Mark A Miller to assemble when/if the time comes. Although mine would do the trick as well.

I think you meant Mark A. Moore.

I've been a long time advocate for a definitive box set. There are so many complications out there that selfishly I would like a set that caters more for the fans not just of Jan and Dean but the Beach Boys, sixties music generally. I would like out takes, backing tracks - rarities as well as the hits. A 'real' box set as we have seen with other artist should be all encompassing.
I understand that production costs are a factor in terms of returns but the Liberty singles CD sold out so there is a market out there. If a 'conventional' set is not a proposition why not a digital box set? There are a number of bootlegs out there - I'm not sure where the tapes of these are or whether Jan left much that could be used.
I would like someone like Mark to be given the commission. The Ride the Wild Surf session was genius.
I guess there are all sorts of issues around publishing rights and I haven't a clue about the ownership of studio outtakes.
Other artists have overcome these issues.
There was a petition I signed a few years ago but I guess the numbers didn't add up.

Wouldn't it be great to have a box set launched to accompany Mark's biography of Jan.

Why not Dean,to give us fans a good quality box set,

Dean did a fine job assembling the 1971 LEGENDARY MASTERS collection, but he neglected to include any of the highly worthy late period J&D singles like "You Really Know How to Hurt a Guy", "I Found a Girl" and "Batman."

Personally I would replace "Can't Wait to Love You" with "Easy as 123" and "Fan Tan" with "Three Window Coupe", which I think is oddly overlooked.

Cheers

with the amount of work jan and dean recorded, theres gonna be people not happy with tracks left out. If a box set came out, we have out takes as well to be added. We could go down the beatles route and have a similar package of 3 double cd of all tracks, and different versions. To get the tracks out.
