No idea what a decent price would be. But because the album was not distributed, any pressed copies would be extremely rare.

Crazy rare, had no idea it was released in Japan (?) but $5000 seems a little steep.

I would wager its most likely a bootleg.  International copyright laws allow a lot of legal restrictions to be circumvented in foreign countries.

I would think there would be price guides out there somewhere...but in general an album not being still sealed decreases its value quite a bit

what the story of the japan release. Why and no other country, i have a yellow baloon on orange 45rpm, and did jan recieve any money from the album,

I bought the orange CBS single in England when it first came out. It was being played on a number of the pirate ships at the time, which is how I found out that it was out.

i live in somerset and travel all over the uk,at record fairs, and cbs yellow balloon is being sold, so theres copies around.

At the time when dean was recording this album, who was their manager and who was advising both jan and dean. I m sure somebody would have told dean of the screen gem inc contract, that jan was in a contract to produce Jan and dean records.

popsicle had a update in 1966, so why wasnt rhythm of the rain updated and used on the album.

I was perusing the discography discussion board and saw that there was a Japanese stereo catalogue number assigned to SFARD, so I guess it's entirely possible after all.  Now I'm curious as to if the stereo version Dean remixed when he tried to sign J&D to Columbia may actually have been released (although, there is a catalogue number assigned to the American version that ultimately wasn't released so it's no guarantee) overseas?
