« on: March 04, 2016, 01:53:21 PM »
Hey Mark
I can't believe how much info you have in this book. I'm blown away with every detail.
I've skipped around from the accident to surf city being recorded. I was up til 3:45 am this morning reading about Jan driving in april of 67.
Just a Great effort. Really a super job. So happy my wife ordered from McFarland.
Thanks for time and energy put into this. Hope this maybe will get a box set out for Jan & Dean.
I would love to hear Jan's version Of Shut Down that's in the vaults.
Thanks again       B

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Re: The Bob Greene Book
« on: October 25, 2014, 08:01:13 PM »
Hello Jan & Dean Friends

I'll agree that the bob greene Book wasn't that great of a read but it's ok for the average fan.
I don't know mark passmore personally but his Jan & Dean book is a good read for the average fan or even a hardcore fan. It covers a lot of stuff after the accident. Most people don't care about the pictures in the book because most fans seen those pictures before.
Mark Moore has all of jan's stuff from gertie and jan's family so his book should be informative when it's finally done, But i still do not think it will get them in the HALL OF FAME.
Mark Moore's tribute to Jan CD got Rhino handmade or andrew sandoval to put out Carnival of Sound which was awesome to finally have on cd in clean, clear Sound. But it didnt even sell out the 1500 cd/album double pack they offered. You know why, Because the fans are dying. No one really knows who jan & dean are anymore. Just speculation, But maybe 10,000 world wide and 5,000 here in the states. I don't know really but Mr. Walleye and black see if you guys know So much why don't you fellas write a tell all book about Jan & Dean. I would buy it. So just a little something to ponder. If everything else is junk. Put something out that's top notch. Just my too sents. b

if I may ask Mark? what is the Alan Clark approach? they have a J&D book by Alan Clark but its 50 bux on amazon. Anyway im happy with this purchase. I searched on amazon after the holidays and found these books and my wife wanted to get me something I liked so I let her purchase them for me. All the HARDCORE fans probably already have this stuff. I just wish someone would do like a 10 or 12 disc Box Set. Early stuff, outtakes and newer stuff too. Oh and a LEGIT Deadman's movie would be nice too. b

DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT / Jan & Dean Archives Volume 1 and 2 on amazon

I just got these books for my birthday. They are on amazon for 18.89 a piece. Check them out. Not sure who did them but its a nice addition to my J&D collection. Its photo copies from fanzines over the years from b4 and after the accident. The 66 tour book that you see on jans corvette from the accident is in it as well. It's always nice to have something new to look at concerning J&D. Nice shiny covers in color. I also just picked up a copy of the Rolling Stone Paul Morantz article. Anyway check them out if you can. B

I agree with Mark.. Not worth the money. I have them both(vol. 1&2) and it was most of the stuff we all know about (most j&d fans). Not to upset Mark Moore but buy the Passmore book. I know its not all correct but most of the stuff was good to read about. Just my opinion... Passmore book is like 26 bux. lot cheaper than 127. b

It SO sad to hear Dean's remakes of the original hits. Total Shit. and people think that stuff is Jan's productions. I listen to internet radio and hear those remakes and it makes me sick. Thank the higher powers they used the originals hits in the Deadmans Curve movie. That could have really screwed things up even worse then it is now. You can listen to the originals in different stereo mixes and mono and the surf to drag mixes and its awesome to listen to. I listen to deans remakes and I want to run into a brick wall. just my opinion. b

Honestly J&Dman

My opinion because nobody remembers jan & dean. We are a dying breed. People remember Surf City(song) but everyone thinks brian wrote it all. skewed history on dean's part(and most media) helps this along. As far as band's go everyband makes themselves sound better than what they are. (charttoppers NOT). It's what people do.

Mike: Cool.  Why didn't they use the K-tel version of Surf City?

Because the original sounds SO MUCH better  :D
