I always thought there should be a new movie on Jan & Dean also. What he did in the studio was incredible. He didn't have any training that I know of, just amazing talent. His production and arranging values as well as being in medical school wasn't brought out in Deadman's Curve. The real story on J&D and released in theaters would interest fans and those not familiar with them.

Just to give an update on The Beach Boys channel on Sirius Radio, it is 24/7 and wasn't just for Memorial weekend. I did hear Dean a few times talking about Brian and the Wrecking Crew. Surf City was also played on that that channel. Not sure if any other Jan & Dean song was played. If it was co-written by Brian, then I'm sure it'll get air time.

Yes, Jan's story is incredible. I wish they would do a new movie and show the production and arrangement talents he had.

Hi, just newly joined this site, having seen Deadman's Curve movie again recently, for the first time since a 21 year old many years ago, it has renewed my interest in the guys, Jan was gorgeous!!! i never realised how badly he was taken advantage of after his accident so sad, it is disgraceful. Also the way he managed to recover sufficiently to perform again, was nothing short of a miracle.

Does anyone know the genesis behind this song? Does it even feature Jan at all?

I've always had a fondness for this album.

To me, the rap sections add a lot of character and I welcome them with open arms.

I think most of the songs here are great, but "So Here I Go Again" is my absolute favorite. Jan just sounds absolutely amazing here.

As far as the remakes, I'm not a big fan of the idea in general. That was one of the initial drawbacks of Brian Wilson's Imagination, but I ended up liking "Keep An Eye On Summer" and, even more, "Somewhere Quiet" from No Pier Pressure  But, I like the additions that Jan added to the four here. The one drawback are those extremely harsh synths at the beginning of "Dead Man's Curve." I don't find the remakes essential, but certainly enjoyable.

The only Beach Boys hit that Jan or Dean were on was Barbara Ann. That I know of.
But I guess you never know

An excellent interview. This compression on CDs is a real pain. Very revealing interview and an insight into Jan's work. Thanks Mark and Rob.
