Dick Clark was always good to Jan & Dean, featuring them many times on his various shows, from the late '50s through mid-'60s. After Jan's accident, Clark reached out and played old "Bandstand" footage for Jan, trying to help him remember his past. Among Jan's papers, there is a personal note from Clark, received not long after the crash, as Jan struggled to recover. At the 2002 American Music Awards, Clark arranged for a "shout-out" to Jan, who was in the audience with Dean. Jenny McCarthy did the honors, acknowledging Jan as a record producer ... Thanks for the memories, Dick.
